Results!

New Designers went really well and everyone had a great time in London. Now I am back and just found out that I got a 2:1 so I am really pleased.

The Next Step

Last Night the show came down ready for it's journey to London. After a quiet few days there is lots to do again deciding how my work should be displayed at New Designers.

Finished

My exibition is all up and finished now, I can't believe it is all over! I am really pleased with the end result and here are a few images of my finished show.

Setting up

For the last two days I have been putting up my exhibition. It is all going well and here are a few images of how the display is looking at the minute.

Finishing Off

Today was my last full day in the studio and I spent the time finishing off various pieces of knitting,including these tops, tying in ends, pressing etc. Tomorrow I am off to kedleston road campus to put up the boards ready for the exhibition to go up.

Lots of cogs

I have been working on a corsage style decoration to go with a dress that I have knitted, it is great to see all of the cogs I have been knitting finally coming together, i am really pleased with the result.

Shima Samples

I have been working on the Shima knitting machine to create some larger pieces of knitting for my exhibition. They have taken a while to get right but I definatley think it has been worth the hard work.

It's the first day of the Easter Holidays and I am off to uni to knit, got to make the most of every minute before the deadline.

PANIC!!!

I can't believe there are only seven weeks left until the final show, how has it come around so quickly?? At the minute I am working on designing garments based on my joints and fastenings. This is the bit that I enjoy the most, seeing my designs come together to make actual garments.

Still Knitting cogs!

Knitting

The one component that has appeared the most in my visual research is the cog so this seems like a good place to start interpreting my drawings into fabrics. I have started knitting cogs and finding different ways of joining them together. I am really enjoying making these and am pleased with the results so far, even if they do take ages to knit!

Design Seminar

Yesterday I had to present the work that I have done so far to my tutors in a design seminar. This was an opportunity to show everyone what I have been up to and to get feedback and new ideas. To view my presentation click here.

Drawing developments

I have moved on from studying simple fastenings to more intricate joints and components and focusing on how the diferent elements join together. I am really enjoying drawing this subject matter.

The theme for my final project is going to be Join, Fasten, Attatch. I am going to study all different types of joints and fastenings with a view to creating knitted womenswear garments.
